Explaining his decision to make a £70 million switch to the Blues in the Metro, the 25-year-old striker said: "Antonio, Michael [Emenalo], Marina [Granovskaia], all of them called me this summer and there was no chance I wasn’t coming to Chelsea.
"They demonstrated to me that they really wanted me.
"I had the chance to go to Manchester United and other teams in the Premier League.
"The important thing is I’m part of Chelsea and I’m very happy with this and now it’s time to fight for the blue shirt. I want to play well and win with this shirt."
Morata will get the opportunity to show United what they missed out on Sunday when the Red Devils pay a visit to west London.
He will head into that game on a run of six games without a goal, as will his opposite number and fellow big-money frontman, Lukaku.
Morata is determined to end his barren and get one over on a manager he still considers to be a friend.
Mourinho handed him his senior debut while at Madrid in 2010-11 and the pair remain in contact despite now being domestic rivals.
Morata added: "I have a good relationship with Jose.
"He was my first coach in professional football and he gave me the chance to be a professional. He made me the first contract.
"Sometimes we send messages but not speaking about football, asking if everything’s OK and some jokes.
"It’s good and I appreciate these things because he was my first coach but now he’s – not my enemy – my rival.
